Childless again

Drove Maddie back to school on Saturday. Roads were terrible. I was driving and we passed many many very bad accidents. Cars upside down in ditches and wrapped around trees and such. Was glad to let Puck take over the driving.

Only spent a little bit of time getting her back into the dorm then turned around and drove the 5 hours home. Roads were beautiful on the way back.


Spending a lot of time trying to find things Puck can eat with his new teeth. Noodles and pudding seem to be good. I got him a bag of that huskless popcorn and that made him happy too :)

I miss Maddie already though, but she forgot some things so it is just like having her home plus her room is still a pit lol

Here are some of the things she made while she was home for the play. The Tiki is about 6' 10" and the conch is about 18 inches across. I sort of dared her to make the conch after she offered to make the starfish for the play. Being the stubborn child of mine she took on the challenge and whipped it out in a couple days.

The tiki she designed and built herself with only a tiny bit of help from Puck. We are now trying to figure out what to do with the dang thing once the show is over. I wonder if the Kalahari in the Dells would want it? We do not have room in the house for it.

Bella is a real cat and will get into any box that is open and Yami will investigate if he thinks Bella is having fun without him. the box is sitting on the bird puzzle I finished just before vacation was over.

Ok now that I have fixed the picture I put in a couple more of them. Bella being cranky and Yami being tortured by Maddie. I have noticed that male cats are much more compliant than females. Yami is an oddly marked cat and no beauty, but he has all the personality you could ever ask for LOL

Yes I am alive

My how the time doth fly when drama kicks in. We have been rehearsing almost every night and with my new job I do not have as much opportunity to do some of the computer drama work, like making up costume sheets and keeping track of the 90 or so kids that we have signed up for drama and the constant little messages to remind them to get their permission slips in so they can participate.

Frankly I have just been exhausted every night. I get up in the mornings and play the quizzes to wake up my brain and that is about all the fun stuff I do on the computer these days.

It has been cold and snowy the past week. Most of my home time has been spent taking apart an old bead curtain divider and portioning it into individual bead necklaces for our Islanders and Island drummers. I have ripped apart two boxes of silk flowers to create little flower wristlets and anklets for my tiny little handmaidens (they are the cutest little things.

I found a gorilla suit for our monkey, but needed to hem it up just about a foot to fit him in the arms and the legs (dang short inseamed middle schoolers)

Maddie and I went to see Sweeney Todd last Saturday. I enjoyed all of what I was able to watch from under my coat. Maddie was sitting next to me cringing while I was saying "can I look yet, can I look yet, Can I look yet??" I thought I could handle the gore, but alas I am just too sensitive to that stuff.

We did a little shopping last weekend too and I found some wonderful plastic plants at Michael's Christmas sale. It looks like kelp, but has glitter on it which makes it look sort of wet from a distance. They had a few of them at 80 percent off so they were in my price range. I grabbed three of them (about 6 feet long each) and dragged them to the counter. One of the sales girls saw me pass by and exclaimed "Oh thank God, they are finally going!" I laughed and told her if she would give me a deal I would take them all, but she just laughed back.

Puck has been building a volcano and pirate treasure chest. Maddie designed and build a giant TIKI sculpture. The picture above is one she drew of it for a brochure ad. It is wonderful. I have been able to get some pretty good pictures of it being created for her portfolio. Once I get them off the camera I will load them into the blog

We did the the Christmas tree down last weekend and have almost gotten all the boxes put back in the attic (it is freaking cold up there)

Today I have the school credit card and I need to get some fabric and sand and some other things to finish off my prop stuff. Maddie and Puck are going over to the school to work on the set some more. We only have Mad for the rest of this week then we have to give her back to school again :( I have gotten used to having her around again.

Oh the other painful thing we have been working on is taxes and FAFSA and getting transcripts out to the people that promised Maddie scholarships last year. It is a bitch getting money for college, but we press on. She made the Dean's list this past semester so she is already well ahead of her parent's record in school lol

Happy New Year Hope this one is better

Not too much going on here. Today is the last day of vacation. I think I will have a hard time getting to sleep tonight after sleeping in so many days. Puck and Maddie and I went to see The Golden Compass yesterday. It was an enjoyable film. Nothing too special, but pleasant and entertaining. The young girl who plays the lead is fabulous though.

Puck's bartending job at the Bowling alley has yet to materialize. The guy who owns the place just does not have any openings right now. That has been a frustration for Puck... Then Saturday he got a call from the last place he bartends (only once a week). They told him times were tough and that they were cutting back. Essentially "hear's your hat, what's your hurry" He is really frustrated.

Tomorrow is tooth pulling day too which is also something he is not looking forward to.

Maddie spent New Years with her boyfriend and Puck and I stayed home and watched movies. I made several bead necklaces for the play. I found one of those beaded bamboo door hangs at Goodwill and cut it up for necklaces. I got quite a few out of it and they look good.

I have also spent the week incorporating characters into the script for the play so no one feels too left out. I think I am done now and have seamlessly added the 15 extra people, but only the first read through will tell. Of course it is hard to say how many will quit the play too and then we need to give the lines to other people.
