No I have not fallen off the face of the earth
All alone tonight... Puck left this morning with Maddie for Minneapolis where she leaves at 9:00 tonight for London and the first leg of her European adventure. We have been discussing packing and what to wear and what to leave behind and how to stuff three months worth of clothes into one suitcase and one back pack. We have talked about feminine products and toothpaste and read too many airline restriction sites. I have dogged the poor child about getting her stuff out of the dining room , well first getting it unpacked from the van and then getting it out of the dining room before she left.
I have bugged her about writing thank yous to all the people who have quietly slipped her a little extra cash for her trip. I bugged her about making photo copies of stuff and to quite dinking around on the computer and get papers written that she needed to finish before the trip. We have made her watch almost all the films she will see for her film history class to give her a little bit of a leg up on the critiques she will have to write.
Day before yesterday I forced us all to lay all the tax stuff out on the table and knuckle down to filling at least Maddie's form so we can fill out the FAFSA. Frankly I am exhausted!
I know she is excited and scared and worried and full of great expectations. I already miss her.
Last night I told her goodbye and went to bed at 10:30. A couple minutes later Puck came upstairs and turned on all the lights. Then he started fiddling with his damn alarm clock. We bought the clock four months ago. It looked cool (I should have known better) you could set two different alarms. Well the first time he tried to set it, it went off at Midnight and woke me up, it then continued to go off every two hours until I was about ready to throw a brick at it.
I was already feeling the loss of Maddie and I needed to get to sleep. I got a might testy with my hubby. "Look, just leave the damn thing alone. You know you can't set it, it's just going to go off at midnight, and wake me up!" "I bought you a new clock a month ago that is really simple, why the hell haven't you set that one up. No really just leave the dang thing alone!!!! I will call you from work at 8:00 OK?I need to get to sleep!!!" ok it was not my finest hour. Puck left in a huff and a few minutes later Maddie crept into the room, kissed me on the cheek and said "I am sorry Dad is such a Luddite" That made me laugh and I felt better.
In the morning I apologized to Puck and quietly blew Maddie a kiss goodbye. The day was a total mess... too many weird things and I was distracted.
Oh here is the link to Maddie's Travelogue blog... I think she is going to try a video blog, but it seems to be lagging.
Well that is about all... On Monday I see the doctor for the results of my MRI.. the arm still hurts... I still have very limited range of motion in my right arm. It is frustrating.
I did weave one rug a couple days ago, which left the arm very painful boo hiss!
Today I tried to drive to take a package to the post office and it was difficult. I am so sick of the whole thing!
