Oh look another Blog Post :)

Rendezvous was fun, I got to play and sing a little, but this is definitely the last year I sleep on the ground. My knees just can't take it. I talked to some other folks who had folding cots and got some good information on what is good and where to get one. The deluxe Swedish folding cot seems to be preferred, but two side by side will not fit in our tent so it will take some thinking to work it all out. I don't really want to lose out on Puck's body heat either.

Maddie had a great time despite a crappy cough. It was good to see her even for a little while. She and her friend Didi had a good visit and I remarked to our neighbors "ah it seems like only yesterday they were bobbing for apples and now they are shopping for wine" The each bought some homemade Elderberry and Blackberry wine to take home with them :)

I ended up with the crappy cold and by the end of this week I was full on sick. I left work early on Thursday and went straight to bed. I felt obligated to be at work on Friday since I had volunteered to take a pie in the face for homecoming. I sort of figured it was something I could do since I really could care less about the football and stuff. It was sort of fun but very sticky and I was glad to have a shower when I got home. I went straight to bed again and slept 14 hours... I never did get dressed over the whole weekend and spent most of it in bed.

I finally feel better today so maybe we can finally get the car unpacked LOL

Still not much going on round here

School has started and this year things are a little confusing. We used to have block scheduling at the High School and this year have changed back to an 8 period day. Teachers have had to readjust all their classes and now try to figure out how to do lessons over a longer period of time and shorter daily period.

I am spending the mornings at our Alternative school. I was apprehensive at first since I had not really been out at Alternative for about 9 years. The first couple days were spent just figuring out what I could do to make myself useful. In case no one has realized I am not the kind of person that can just sit around. I need to be doing something all the time. Also I usually find the quickest way to do any job and am left with loads of time LOL.

Alternative is a self directed school so the students are making up their own goals and living up to those goals. They must spend time working quietly and then are allowed some physical breaks if the work is going well. There is also an online group of classes which have been implemented this year and the teacher was trying to figure those out as well. We both have been winging it, but getting along I think. I read the Freshman fiction text book (The Ultimate Gift) the first day. Modeling behavior is a part of the job that I am just getting used to.

I developed a spread sheet so we can keep track of when assignments are turned in. I tried to make it easy for Phil (the teacher) to see at a glance and he was very effusive in his praise (I got embarrassed, as I always do when the praise seems just too much for the effort I put forth) but I do think it turned out ok.

I now have a little routine I can do in the morning. I enter all the homework on the computer then file it away. The rest of the day I read :) I hope no one finds out how much I love this class. The only bad part are the two flights of stairs I have to climb. Going up winds me a bit, but going down is complete hell on my knees. I think the shoulder recovery has set my knees back. I can't win.

We are getting ready for rendezvous which is the weekend after this coming one. We missed last year due to a whole pile of circumstances. I am sort of looking forward to it, but a little worried about sleeping on the ground. With bad knees and one bad arm I worry that once I am down I wont be able to get back up lol. I tell you it is always something lol
